From Principal's Desk
देणार्याने देत जावे
घेणार्याने घेत जावे
घेता घेता एक दिवस
देणार्याचे हात घ्यावे.

It is with great pleasure that I extended to you an invitation to take a first look into the heart that beats behind the appealing facade of Agasti Arts, Commerce and Dadasaheb Rupwate Science College, Akole, which is affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University. I thank you for your interest in this exceptional institution which has recorded six decades of constant development, in the course of which it has accomplished much, making it one of the colleges recognized for its excellence.
The college began with two classes and eighty-seven students on 1st July 1974. The present strength is almost five thousand and the percentage of girl students is near about fifty percent. As J. Krishnamurti says, "The heart of matter is education. It is total understanding of man and not emphasis on one fragment of his life." We strive to cultivate a multifaceted personality in our students in a similar manner. In the year 2015, NAAC awarded A grade to our college and there was an encouraging remark in its report, "The NAAC Peer Team took a close look into the multi-faceted dimension of this college, which has a potential to emerge as a major centre of learning in the years to come."
Our institution is proud to offer a wide range of academically good extracurricular activities. Our objective is to instil a love of learning in our students, and in order to accomplish this, we intend to cultivate the abilities and mind set of lifelong learning, which is one of the most important factors in producing responsible citizens of the world. This will give them a huge advantage in facing the future with strength and hope. On a deeper level, we try to teach the ideals of trust and respect in relationships, which are the foundation bricks of real success.
At Agasti Arts, Commerce and Dadasaheb Rupwate Science College, we believe that ‘education’ is a wholesome, holistic exercise. We look at ourselves as ‘care-givers.’ We care about the mind—our institution is a great place to learn—and we care about the students—the focus is on developing the students in every way. Over the course of the past twenty years, our college has established itself as an important centre for research and education, and we have done everything in our capacity to make this possible. I believe, however, that this is just the beginning, and that the best is yet to come. There is no doubt in my mind that our goal will be achieved thanks to our visionary management and devoted staff members. I wish our students the best in the process of seeking to become a part of this family. Here, I would like to quote the lines of the famous American poet Robert Frost, which always inspires me:
The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
