Akole Taluka Education Society, the mother-institution of the college, was established in 1972. During 1971-1972, Maharashtra was undergoing a very dreadful famine and millions of workers were working on the employment guarantee scheme for their daily bread all over the state. Akole Taluka was no exception to this but the urge for education was so intense and strong that each worker paid one rupee each for this noble cause in response to the visionary founders of the institution. And it is with this sacred, sweat-scented money, that the mother institution ATE Society could begin the college in this area in the year 1974. The Vision of the institution is, ' to educate each and every student living in the rural and remote corners of tribal area and that no student need go outside for graduation as well as post graduation as we provide a variety of courses under one roof' . This we have Arts, Commerce and Science programmes in UG and PG. The college is working according to the motto of the institution which has been chosen with great care. It is in Sanskrit which says “ Sahase Shree Prativasati “ It is quite similar to the meaning of the well-known English proverb ‘ Fortune Favours the Brave.’ The motto reflects the zeal and enthusiasm with which the founders started the Sanstha. ‘Shree’ in Sanskrit has multiple meanings. The English word ‘Fortune’ does not convey all the shades of meaning contained by ‘Shree’. The motto means that you can win a fortune or the blessings of Goddess Laxmi only when you take an initiative without bothering about the risks and take a brave and adventurous leap in to the destiny. If your ideas are noble, serene, pure and for the good of mankind, you are bound to succeed, come what may. The motto may appear to be a religious saying to the believers but it has social and educational implications also. The motto has always been a source of inspiration for the Sanstha. At present the Sanstha is running 4 degree colleges at Akole, Kotul, Shendi (Bhandardara) and Samsherpur, 4 junior colleges, 10 High-schools and 1 CBSE pattern school. Out of these four colleges the first one i.e. the College at Akole has developed adequate physical infrastructure spread up over an area of 18 acre (72843.41 sq. mtr.) The total built up area of institute is 8260.07 sq. mtr. that includes administrative block, Classrooms, Laboratory, Seminar Halls, Library, Reading Halls, K. B.Dada Memorial Hall/auditorium, Buwasaheb Nawale Open theatre, Gymkhana, Hostels, Guest House, Canteen, Health Centre, Day Care Centre, Common rooms, Wash Rooms etc. These state-of-art facilities are useful for the curricular, co-curricular and extra-, curricular activities of our students. The Institute has thus created a highly conducive environment for the oveall development of students with the help of infrastructural facilities and various educational programs. The ICT infrastructure has also been developed for supporting the modern pedagogies in teaching-learning process (TLP). The initiatives for environmental consciousness of HEI offers a green and eco-friendly campus. The green cover on the campus adds to the beauty and learning ambience of institute.
