The Department of Geography was established in 1974 to provide geographic knowledge to agriculture based rural and tribal society. The department offers Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), Master of Arts (M.A.)/Science (M.Sc.) and Ph. D. degrees in Geography. The faculties in the department are well qualified and devoted in teaching as well as research activities. The department has well equipped laboratories and classrooms. We pay attention to the students for conducting practicals in laboratory and interactive classroom sessions. Problem solving projects, fieldworks, industrial visits, etc. are also conducted for developing geographic skills amongst the students. We have established interactions between renowned faculties, research scholars and alumni of the department through arranging visits, lectures, workshops and conferences for overall development of the students.   

The faculties have conducted research projects funded by UGC and Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune. The students have been  guided for their thesis and earned Ph.D. degrees, successfully in geomorphology, economic geography, population geography, rural development, water resource management, tribal studies, tourism, etc. with GIS and remote sensing techniques. The faculties and research scholars have published research papers in reputed research journals. The faculties have also registered patents for securing rights of their research outputs.       

The department has organised conferences and workshops at national and international levels to navigate research activities in academics and search scholars in geography.
